10/18/19 | Halloween Decoration Contest / Wild Rumpus

Halloween Decoration Contest / Wild Rumpus
Friday, October 18th, 2019
737 26th Ave N. | Throughout Crescent Heights
6:00 – 8:00PM

Epic bragging rights are up for grabs once again.  This year’s decoration contest themes are:

● Best Spooky/Scary
● Most Creative
● Best Sprit of St. Pete

Judging will take place on Friday, October 18th from 6 – 8 pm and we need your help to pick our winners! Join the Wild Rumpus Wild Things porch party at 737 26th Ave N and pick up a voting form, then walk or drive around the neighborhood and pick your favorite. While everyone can vote, we are specifically looking for input from kids aged 13 and under.  Every kiddo that returns a form by 8 pm on October 18 will get a full-sized candy bar as a thanks. We’ll announce the winner at the Halloween Block Party.

Plan the best candy route or just walk/drive around and have some fun!  No sign up required; if your home is decorated on October 18th, it is automatically eligible.  Please make your address visible or make a sign for easy voting.

The Halloween Decoration contest is generously sponsored by Jane Forbes, Friend of Crescent Heights for 2019/2020. If you are thinking of buying or selling a home, contact her for more information!

10/3/19 | Final Hearing for Historic Designation of Church

Final Hearing for Historic Designation of Church
Thursday October 3rd 2019
Sunshine Center | 330 5th St N, St. Petersburg, FL 33701
8:30AM (Note: this is a change)

The Church of the Beatitudes / Grace Lutheran Church historical designation is finally going before City Council for final approval.  The process took almost two years, but (assuming the motion passes) this historic building in our neighborhood will be saved from demolition and given extra protection in the future.  Show your support in two ways:

  1. Attend the hearing!  At the developer’s request the hearing was moved to a morning session.  The item should be heard around 9:00 am.
  2. Send an e-mail showing your support to council@stpete.org.  Please cc Ms. Laura Duvekot (laura.duvekot@stpete.org) on the correspondence so that she can include the number of comments received in support in her final presentation.

Initially the hearing was scheduled at the Council’s evening meeting, and CHNA had planned a celebration event downtown after the designation was approved.  However, with this time change, we’ll save our celebration for the November General Meeting on November 11, 2019.  Thank you so much to everyone who worked on this project over the past two years and who advocated so strongly to save this beautiful building and piece of history here in CHNA.
